The Chapel Staff

	Phillip C. Bubar - Senior Pastor Pastor Bubar is a 1978 graduate of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.  Both Phil and his wife Lisa graduated from Wheaton College with their undergraduate degrees.  Pastor Phil was the first pastor of Christ Evangelical Free Church in eastern Pennsylvania, serving there for seventeen years.  They arrived in St. Joseph in 1995 to begin ministry here at the Chapel.  He and Lisa have two children.  Dan is a 2001 graduate of Taylor University in Upland, Indiana and a 2004 graduate of Notre Dame Law School in South Bend, Indiana.  Rachel is a 2006 graduate of Taylor University.
	Blair Hayward - Associate Pastor of Evangelism/Discipleship Pastor Hayward is originally from Ontario, Canada.  he came to the United States on a baseball scholarship in 1994.  He graduated from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1999 with a degree in telecommunication arts.  He met his wife Gina at Butler University and they were married July 1, 2000.  After graduating from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in December 2002 with a Masters in Divinity with an emphasis in Evangelism, he and Gina moved to St. Joseph to begin their ministry at the Chapel.  The Haywards have one daughter, Reegan.

	Kent Wade - Director of Worship Kent is a 1990 graduate of Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois, where he earned a B.A. degree in Music Education.  Kent served as Associate Director of Worship and Fine Arts at Parma Heights Baptist Church in suburban Cleveland, Ohio for 4 years before being called to the Chapel in July 2002.  Kent's wife, Susan, has taught Middle and High School English for the past 21 years and currently teaches at Upton Middle School in St. Joseph and is also an adjunct professor at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  The Wades have two children, Andrew and Michaela.
	Dr. Paul S. Thompson - Associate Pastor of Administration After serving 40 years as a senior pastor in various congregations around the country and on the national leadership team for the North American Baptist Conference, Pastor Thompson came to the Chapel in April 2007 to help part-time with the administrative needs of the Chapel.  He also leads the ministry to the senior adults.  He and his wife, Sue, have three children, John, Janet, and Susan (who happens to be married to Kent Wade -- see above).
	Cindy Swearingen - Director of Children's Ministries Cindy received a B.A. in Elementary Education from Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio.  She joined the staff at the Chapel in January of 2000.  She is married to Alan and has three children, Brett, Beth, and Keith.  Cindy oversees children's ministries from newborn through fifth grade.
	Jan Brandt - Associate Director of Children's Ministries Jan earned an Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana.  Being a child of a Navy Chaplain, she moved throughout her elementary school years, however, Gurnee, Illinois was considered home.  She met her husband, Rich while at Taylor and they were married in 1987.  Jan and Rich have two children, Taylor and Lauren.
