The Meaning of The Look

 by Elizabeth Barrett Browning

I think that look of Christ might seem to say--
'Thou Peter ! art thou then a common stone
Which I at last must break my heart upon
For all God's charge to his high angels may
Guard my foot better ? Did I yesterday
Wash thy feet, my beloved, that they should run
Quick to deny me 'neath the morning sun ?
And do thy kisses, like the rest, betray ?
The cock crows coldly.--GO, and manifest
A late contrition, but no bootless fear !
For when thy final need is dreariest,
Thou shalt not be denied, as I am here;
My voice to God and angels shall attest,
Because I KNOW this man, let him be clear.'

"A multitude of causes unknown to former times are now acting with a combined force to blunt the discriminating powers of the mind, and unfitting it for all voluntary exertion to reduce it to a state of almost savage torpor."

  -William Wordsworth

  "The Lord called me from the womb, from the body of my mother he named my name."

-Isaiah, 49:1

    Ladies, we must trust that God is in control of world events, including elections.  His purposes and plans are mysterious and sometimes baffling to us.  But he is constantly moving everything toward the day when all will bow before His throne. It is by His grace through faith in Jesus that we are able to see this and be his worshippers now, in all circumstances.  Here are some verses we used in Moms In Touch on the Thursday after the election which comforted me!  - B. Gardner

 "Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,

 to whom belong wisdom and might.

He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings;

 he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding;

 he reveals deep and hidden things;

he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him."

Daniel 2:20-22

"Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify your name?

For you alone are holy.

 All nations will come and worship you,

for your righteous acts have been revealed."

Revelation 15:4
