Phil BubarFavorite Bible character...is Joseph, as he was used by God in a very difficult time. He was called righteous, seeking to do what is right, which landed him in prison. But then God used that setting to bring him to be Pharaoh’s next in command, which spared his family. It is a true story of redemption and forgiveness.

I was born...to Joe and Ruth Bubar in Fitchburg, MA. My dad was pastoring Highland Baptist Church.

My life verse...is Galatians 2:20 ~ I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

My last meal would be…growing up, roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy and peas. Today it would be …Yolanda Broehm’s enchiladas.

My idea of a perfect day...is Lisa spending time with our two grandsons while I get to play 9 holes of golf with our two children and their spouses. Then it’s home for a great meal after which we all head to the beach to watch the sunset on Lake Michigan. After putting the grandkids to bed – it’s game time. Then miraculously, we all get to sleep in the next morning.

I have travelled to…Be a pastor and see the world, or is that the Navy? I am very thankful for the various opportunities to minister in a number of countries. During college, I visited my sister and bother-in-law who were missionaries in Pakistan (7 weeks) and then I served (10 weeks) in a missions hospital in Abu Dhabi, UAE. I have been to Romania numerous times through The Chapel’s ministry there, as well as teaching in two Word of Life Bible Institutes in Portugal and 7 times in Hungary. God also opened the door to see Israel and the Greek cities where Paul established various churches.

Trademark cliché or saying…”It’s always right to do what’s right!” (I learned it from my Uncle Paul.)

If I had a different job...I’d be a High School math teacher. I come from a family of many pastors and teachers. When I was in High School, I loved math and had great teachers and thought that the Lord could use me in that position for His kingdom if I didn’t go into the full-time ministry. But, I couldn’t not be in full-time ministry; that was God’s call on me.

My ideal vacation would be…sitting on the beach (in the shade – that is very important to me!) and reading with Lisa and our immediate family and no time pressures.

Nobody knows that...at heart, I am a introvert (as I shared at our Annual Meeting), though I often play the role of an extrovert.

If they made a movie about my life, the actor who should play me would be…Ted Danson because I am told he looks like me (but he is older!).

My favorite pastime…trying to play golf and walking the beach with Lisa.

To relax...I like to exercise on my elliptical, and then zone out with Lisa watching a good movie.
