Twin Cities Free Children's Book Fair

The Book Fair Friends are a group of ecumenical women who want to put free books into the hands of children who have no libraries in their schools, do not visit the public library often or not at all, and who have little or no reading materials in their homes.  They are sponsoring a free children's book fair at Union Memorial AME Church.  Our goal is to plant seeds for the love of books, thus improving their chances of a complete education.  The Chapel is participating in this.  Not only will we give free books, we will also give free food and turn the church grounds into a fun-filled, "hands-on" learning experience with representatives from the Fire Department, Coast Guard, Police, and Medic One.

This is a community event with our community leaders reading to the children from a tent every fifteen minutes with the emphasis on the importance of education.  Everything is free to the children and parents.  The children have to listen to a book read to them before they receive a coupon for a free book.
